The Bit Players is a guild on Blizzard's World of Warcraft Lothar (East Coast, PvE) server. Our raison d´être is to bring together competent, friendly people for cooperative gaming. Most evenings, various groups of guildmembers get together to tackle high-level instances, although members are not required to raid as a condition of membership.
We have many raid groups within the guild, and all guildmembers are encouraged to read the forums (where openings are often posted) and to talk to raid leaders about signing up if they are interested in raiding. The important thing to realize is that it is shared values that make this guild, not any particular raid group. Our raid groups form, dissolve, and reorganize periodically to meet their members' needs and in response to changes in the game (e.g., the switch from 40-person to 10 and 25-person raids), but the guild itself has been around since early 2005.
The guild itself is modeled, rather tongue-in-cheek, after a troupe of actors. Guild ranks are based upon the theatre - (see our Cast page for more information). The name "The Bit Players" is itself a play on words. In one sense, we are all players of a game, which is written and stored in computer memory, or "bits." In another sense, the game calls upon us to act out the roles of the lesser heroes of the game world, Jaina Proudmoore, King Magni Bronzebeard, and their ilk being the stars around which the world revolves. Thus, all the game's a stage, and all the guildmembers merely (bit) players.
If you'd like to adventure with us, here's what you'll need to know. Finally, if you're thinking of actually joining the guild, please read our recruiting information.
